Why I’m Thinking About Building a Seller-First Marketplace in Germany

For the past few years, I’ve spent countless hours working with online sellers, researching products, and learning how marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, OTTO, and Kaufland operate in Germany.

During that time, one question kept coming back to me:

Why is it still so difficult for German online sellers to find reliable products quickly?

Today, many businesses source products from platforms like Alibaba and AliExpress. These platforms have transformed global commerce by connecting buyers with manufacturers around the world. However, they can also present challenges such as long shipping times, complicated supplier selection, import procedures, and the uncertainty of ordering products from overseas.

That made me start thinking about a different idea.

A Vision, Not a Launch

I am currently exploring the possibility of creating a seller-first B2B sourcing platform in Germany.

This is not an announcement that the platform already exists. It is a vision that I’m researching, planning, and learning about.

My goal is simple:

Make product sourcing easier for serious online sellers in Germany.

Instead of browsing millions of random products, I imagine a platform focused on carefully selected products with real marketplace demand.

What Makes This Idea Different?

Rather than trying to become another giant marketplace, I want to explore whether it’s possible to build something more focused.

The idea includes:

Carefully selected products instead of millions of listings.

Products chosen for marketplace demand rather than quantity.

Faster shipping from Germany.

Professional VAT invoices for businesses.

Reliable order tracking.

A platform designed for entrepreneurs and online sellers.

The focus would be on helping businesses save time and make sourcing simpler.

Built for Marketplace Sellers

If this vision becomes reality, it would be designed with marketplace sellers in mind, including businesses selling on:

eBay Germany

Amazon Germany

Shopify

Etsy

OTTO Marketplace

Kaufland Marketplace

TikTok Shop

These sellers often face the same challenges when sourcing products. I believe there is room for a platform built around their needs rather than serving every possible customer.
